Our mission
Scott Olson - Passionate About Inspiring Others
Scott Olson grew up in Seattle, Washington, where he spent his formative years outdoors, camping and hiking. At age 15, he was hired as a climbing guide on Mt. Rainier. Over the next eight summers, he led parties of hikers and climbers to the summit of Mt. Rainier and on hiking trips in the Cascade and Olympic mountain ranges. He also taught sailing and aquatic skills on the open waters of Hood Canal.
After earning a bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Washington and a
Juris Doctor from the Seattle University School of Law, he served for six years as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for Snohomish County before being appointed an FBI Special Agent.

Over the next 21 years with the FBI, Mr. Olson became an expert in counterintelligence operations and counterterrorism investigations management. He also conducted operational travel in Europe, Africa, and Asia. Post-9/11, while serving as a squad supervisor and later as Assistant Special Agent in Charge of Intelligence, he helped build the Intelligence processes the FBI uses today. In 2013, Mr. Olson was designated Legal Attaché to Baghdad, Iraq. During this assignment, he lived and worked in five cities in the Middle East until his return to the US in 2015.
Mr. Olson spent his final two years at FBI Headquarters in Washington, DC, focusing on leadership development issues. He created and implemented the annual performance review process currently used by the FBI to evaluate the leadership performance of the executives in charge of the FBI’s 56 field offices. He also developed and piloted the FBI’s process for identifying and preparing individual contributors for promotion to front-line supervisor.
Mr. Olson is an exceptional team leader and an accomplished team leader coach with a demonstrated track record of producing results.
Upon retiring from government service in 2017, Mr. Olson founded GlenHaven International, LLC, a professional consultancy focused on unlocking potential in people. In addition to coaching leaders at all levels, GHI specializes in leading-edge hiring processes, leadership development business processes, and creating high-potential partnerships. GHI is also committed to bridging the gap between transitioning USIC and military professionals and the security industry companies who need their expertise.
